Héctor Juan Pérez Martínez (Sept 30, 1946 - June 29, 1993), known as Héctor Lavoe, was a Puerto Rican singer born in Ponce and considered the greatest "sonero" of salsa. Lead vocalist for Willie Colón and the Fania All-Stars in the 70s, his voice defined the genre. Nickname: The Singer of Singers.
